Investing Wisdom from the Fitting Room

We all know that the sales people in a retail store have a job to do – their job is to sell things to us (the more the better). It’s having this basic understanding of the motive of a retail salesperson that makes you want someone who has a vested interest in your well-being there to give you feedback and advice.

The same concept applies when it comes to investing. Many brokers and financial professionals work on commissions. They get paid for selling you investment products. The products they sell may or may not be in your best interest long-term.

So, when it comes to making decisions about your “happily ever after” don’t let a retail, commission-based sales person steer you wrong. Make sure that you are working with a fee-based advisor or coach whose motivator is to help you reach your financial goals – not a commission.
